Christmas Outreach 2011

The mission of the Presbyterian Night Shelter (PNS) is to end homelessness one individual at a time. PNS provides a local area sanctuary at no cost to anyone in need, and is the only free emergency shelter without length-of-stay restrictions. Shelter, evening meals, case management, and basic human care for the homeless are provided. They help the less fortunate regain their quality of life and enable them to re-enter mainstream society. PNS, as an example of their dedication to the cause, employs about thirty homeless clients to handle their day-to-day operations.

Located just east of downtown Fort Worth, PNS houses an average of 650 homeless clients every night.  Annually, they provide over 3,000 bus passes and serve more than 500,000 meals. PNS operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and houses adults, the elderly, infirm, mentally ill, and veterans. PNS also houses and cares for, in a separate facility called The  Lowdon-Schutts Building, an additional forty mothers and their seventy-five children. These  fatherless families are able to receive free services while they work toward their goal of independence and self-sufficiency. Caseworkers teach the women how to focus on their strengths, and they help them strive for stability and consistency.

For this Christmas Outreach
TPC provided a new coat and toy for seventy-five children and a gift for forty motherss.  Thank you to all those who gave generously and made it possible to give to those less fortunate this Christmas.
